Happy hump day, inter-peeps! Kind of can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. I am all thrown off this week because Monday was a kind of day off, but not really. My husband had the day off, and I only worked a short shift, so it felt like I had half the day off? Either way, my mojo is off, whatever that is.
I honestly ate who-knows-what yesterday, but I decided to start today with a smoothie to make me feel on track again. Any time I start feeling sluggish or like I haven’t been eating right, smoothies are my go-to fix me up. Today I ended up making a recipe on the back of my Designer Whey protein powder canister because I happened to have all the ingredients. Behold, the frothiest smoothie ever (and some Trader Joe’s raisin toast and a grande coffee, of course):
Orange Dreamsicle Shake
So today’s smoothie isn’t actually a smoothie at all, but really just a shake. It’s not thick like a smoothie, but still delicious. I was pleasantly surprised, and it’s super simple too.
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 6 ice cubes
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
I normally can’t stand drinking orange juice because I find it too acidic, but this was great. The milk really tones down the acidity and the protein powder made it less tart. Delish!
30 Minute Interval Elliptical Workout
Yesterday was a cardio day for me, and during this week of following the Fitness Magazine Lose 10 Pounds workout, I need to squeeze in 150-180 minutes of cardio. I normally search for elliptical or treadmill workouts on Pinterest, but nothing was peaking my interest, so I created my own.
I whipped this interval workout out and then did a 15 minute incline power walk on the treadmill to clock 45 cardio minutes. Sometimes I love cardio-only days. I just really get in the zone when I can check out and just do the same movement over and over again. Since it’s been so cold lately, I’m starting to realize my love for the elliptical and incline walks again. Now I’ve got to get to today’s strength workout & my to do list that seems to be never-ending! Have a beautiful day!
* Note about this workout: the elliptical I use does not have a crossramp setting. I can only adjust the resistance and speed (it’s more of a crosstrainer than an elliptical, if you will). If you do this workout on an elliptical that has a crossramp setting, I would adjust it to a 5-8 depending on the machine. Also, a resistance of 12 on this elliptical is VERY hard to move. All elliptical machines are different, so please adjust accordingly.
- Question for you: Do you have a favorite workout that you’ve found online like this? If so, please share! I’m always looking to add more workouts to the mix. And let me know how you like this workout!
