Life Lately { 3.24.14 }

Hey! What’s up?

I am glad to say that I actually had a very relaxing weekend for the first time in a long while. The past couple of weekends have been jam-packed and I just haven’t felt “with it” lately. But this weekend was a great mix of downtime and socializing that left me feeling recharged.

Friday night we stayed in and had leftovers. Crazy, I know. But we really just needed some downtime after a crazy week.

Saturday we did our 18 mile long run, and I’m happy to report that went very well too. More deets on tomorrow’s fitness post. After that, we went to dinner with some friends and definitely ate back some calories with these crazy burgers from Boston Burger Company.

I got the “Hot Mess” burger, which had American cheese, pickles, jalapenos, sweet potato fries, thousand island dressing, and lettuce.

It was so good, and yes, it was a mess!

Hubby got the “Bee Hive,” which was stacked with onion rings covered in barbecue sauce.

Yum! It was really tasty and I’m definitely going back, but all our burgers were not cooked how we ordered.

After dinner, we saw Divergent. I actually didn’t really know we were seeing it because my husband picked the movie.

It was so good. Like, I loved it. And I never really love movies. And now I just regret now reading the book first. And I think I have to get my hands on this series…

Sunday was a good mix of busy but productive with some down time too. We went to church, then had some of our Bible study friends over for lunch in the afternoon. After that, we ran some errands and got some cookies on the way back.

We didn’t go out for dessert after dinner, and after running 18 miles, I wanted my dessert! Got a snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookie from my fave bakery up the street. Good, but nothing amazing. I’ll stick to pastries from there next time.

This Week’s Schedule

Normally, I wouldn’t run anyone through my weekly schedule, but since this week is particularly packed, I just wanted to write this out for my own sake so I know what’s going on.

Monday: Rest day, work, dinner with some church girl friends

Tuesday: AM workout, work, Bible study

Wednesday: work, run after work (unless it snows?!), chill at home?

Thursday: AM workout, work, catch up on blog’s/blog prep

Friday: rest day, work, early birthday dinner with some work friends

Saturday: coffee date, rest up before race day

Sunday: 20 mile race!

And somewhere in there, I need to seriously meal plan and go grocery shopping. Not really sure when I can make time for that…

I really want to eat clean this week in preparation for the race. So, that’s my busy week. I was kind of having mini panic attacks about it last week, but writing it out and seeing my schedule really helps most that anxiety go away.

Here’s to a good week!

Questions for You:

  • What yummy thing did you have over the weekend?
  • What helps you out during busy weeks?

  1. I’ve heard the books are really good, but my cousin said if you read The Hunger Games, they aren’t as great, but I still want to give them a try! I think I will wait to see the movie until after I read them!

  2. I totally agree that writing things out helps so much and helps calm me down! Glad the run went well, and that you got your cookies. That’s the best reward 😉

  5. I saw Divergent over the weekend and really loved it! I read the books about a year ago, and can say that the movies totally lived up to the books. The two main actors were perfect!

    • That’s good to know! I kept wondering how it measured up. I still want to read the book to find out all the details. Did you finish the series?

      • I did. The first two books were great , don’t want to put the book down, reads. I absolutely hated the 3rd book honestly. It was like the author didn’t think out the ending very carefully. That’s just my opinion though, you may love the 3rd book : ) (I really wanted to love it!)

  6. I love that there were sweet potato fries on your burger! And the thousand island dressing is an awesome addition. I love to load up my veggie burgers, so I am going to remember both of those toppings.

    Have an amazing week! :)

  9. I saw Divergent with my husband yesterday and I thought it was so good too! Having the ingredients for a few quick meals in the refrigerator always helps me lots during a busy week. I had vegan chocolate chip cookies last night that were delicious!

  10. I’m with you 100% in needing to write things out. I tend to build things up so much in my head, that I create unnecessary anxiety. Now you can just focus on each day as it comes. :-)

Looks like y’all had a great weekend! Friday nights in are some of my favorites, lame as it may be.

  11. Boston Burger Co – only been once but had the mac and cheese burger and oh my it was yummy. I feel as though I need to go back if only for the fries though, the ones with caramel, cinnamon and sugar sound so intriguing! Also love that you saw Divergent and enjoyed it. I loved the books and saw the movie this weekend as well and was pleasantly surprised. Sounds like a great weekend! :)

  12. Make sure to have a little downtime each day, even it’s just five minutes. And, get outside! That’ll keep you sane. You’ve got this!

  13. Divergent is a very good book. Insurgent is pretty good, not great. Allegient is kinda crappy. I recommend just skipping that one. Just read a description of it since Insurgent leaves off on the most obnoxious cliffhanger ever.

I’m definitely having a busy week – starting a new job! But I planned out all my meals & prepped them. Also picked out all my clothes for the week. So all I need to do this week is drink some red wine and relax. And maybe some dishes.

  14. Those burgers look insane! Did you finish it? I’m guessing after 18 miles, you probably needed every bit of it. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I can’t wait to see Divergent after just finishing the book. I’ve heard people love it or don’t, so I’m excited to see where I fall. If I have a busy week ahead, I make a list of small -> big tasks and prioritize. Every time I check something off, it helps!
