Tuesday Ramblings { 8/27 }

Good morning, ya’ll! I’m joining Katie today for her Take Time Tuesday link up.

Live Half Full

I’m going to share what’s been going on for me lately and use this post as a way to “take a time out” and look at my life from an outside perspective.

This morning for breakfast, I let myself indulge in my favorite Van’s organic blueberry waffles. I wish I could start every morning this way, but then I know I’d get sick of them too fast!

Fresh fruit on the side automatically makes it healthy, right?

Oh, and sorry all my pics are terrible today. My camera is dead & the memory card is full, so crappy phone pictures will have to do.

After breakfast, I wasn’t really feeling a workout. I knew it wasn’t a running day, but I needed to do something quick & effective. I did this  No Excuses Workout. I love that it has cardio, strength, & abs all in one. It’s one of those “one stop shop” kind of workouts that leaves me feeling like I did so much in a short amount of time.

Lately, Pinterest workouts are my favorite. I just flip open my Kindle, find the workout on Pinterest, and set it up on my coffee table as I work out in my living room.

Couldn’t be any easier, right?

Learning to Plan

Lately, life has only been getting busier and also messier for me in terms of my schedule. Working from home is great because having a commute from my bedroom to the living room really can’t get any better.

But lately, I have a lot of new things to keep track of with Mary Kay, from contacting people, placing orders, setting up parties, etc. And along with that, I still have all my regular day-to-day life stuff like, you know, cleaning the bathroom.

Yesterday I felt a little overwhelmed because I knew what I had to do (and trust me, it was a long list), but I hadn’t made a plan for how to do it. And goals without plans are just dreams!

I’m starting to realize that no matter how much or how little I have going on, I need to make a schedule for the week. It helps me see the time I have available instead of just seeing all the things I must do on a to do list. A schedule is much more practical than just a to do list. I know this is nothing other’s haven’t already figured out, but it’s very liberating for me to problem solve my life right now.

And back to work I go! See ya!

Questions for You:

  • Do to do lists help you get anything done or do they tend to overwhelm you?
  • What’s one thing you will miss about summer? For me, it’s iced coffee.

Comments

  1. That looks like the most perfect breakfast ever! I do love lists! It helps keep me organized and helps me from forgetting certain things.

I can’t wait to check out that arms video and butt workout!

  2. I absolutely LOVE to do lists. Without them, the calendar in my phone, and a day planner I would probably forget to eat. My memory is horrible since Iraq so if I don’t write something down I forget it. As for summer, I miss being able to spend a lot of time outside. Thankfully we’ve had really nice days lately (why did I ever leave NH in the first place? Glad I’m back though!) I will also miss ice cream dates.

  3. Breakfast looks tasty! I love fresh berries with waffles or pancakes. I have to keep track of due dates and deadlines in my phone but other than that sometimes to-do lists make me a little overwhelmed.

  4. I live off to-do lists- I have one for my blog, one of my personal life and one for work. It keeps me sane!

I’m going to miss the urge to head outside for a workout- going to the gym in the Winter gets to be so boring!

  5. I’m such a huge planner (<- understatement)…every night I write my to-do list for the upcoming day, think about my meals and workouts, and have the day kind of laid out. If I don't I get too anxious to sleep!

    • I used to do exactly that. Lately, life has been so busy and I’m trying to not stress about much that I just go to bed without doing that. But it wreaks havok on my upcoming day! Going to start making time for it from now on :)

  6. A To-Do List is a huge help for me! Something about being able to cross it off my list makes me stay on track lol

  7. Hey Melissa, I would really recommend you check out Money Saving Mom’s weekly goals. Lots of bloggers post their goals each week and help hold each other accountable :-) just a thought!

  10. I thrive on lists… but I usually make an initial list and then prioritize the list and create a final list. Yes, there is a process :) but it helps me not get overwhelmed by it all.

    • That sounds like a really good plan! I think that’s what I always hope to do with my lists, but never really get around to. Thanks for the idea ;)
